THE CLASSROOM.

Art and Design breeds ideas, and Ideas breed art and design, a creative meeting of the minds.

The Greystone Project offers an environment for explorations of space, design and art – continuing to build upon the rich legacy of creative, intellectual and cultural experiences within the Bronzeville community. Design Education Programs promote an appreciation of architecture, design, visual arts and literature. Explore the intellectual intricacies of art and design in a creative CLASSROOM at The Greystone Project.

Consultation Tours & Seminars, hosted by Clemenstien Love at The Greystone Residence promote architectural preservation of vintage residential buildings and interiors with an appreciation of historical precedents of the past. A permanent exhibition showcases The Greystone Residence Design Archive Collection, comprised of drawings, sketches, water color paintings, photographs and finish material collages. The collection chronicles the interior architectural “LABORATORY” and promotes DIY design fundamentals for creating artistically handcrafted interiors “roomscapes” for modern-day living.

Visiting Artist Exhibitions, Lectures and Open Critiques provide educational enlightenment. Artist Salon members and Artist Residency recipients showcase current work and encourage dialogue within the fields of architecture, design, visual arts and literature. The Greystone Project houses an extensive slide resource collection of African American Visual Artists and Period Interiors (notably, the Miniature Thorne Rooms), Ancient Architecture & Decorative Arts (Egyptian, Roman, Greek), Illuminated Manuscripts and Artists Books, a gift from the Ryerson Slide Library at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
